Sandpoint Idaho Is More Than A Ski Resort

Sandpoint Idaho may be the home of world class skiing because of Schweitzer Mountain Resort, but there is so much more to this Sunset Magazine ” Best Small Town in the West ” favorite. Sure, Schweitzer Village features luxury accommodations, shopping, a variety of restaurants, a burgeoning ski scene, and an array of non-skiing activities. But if you venture into town you will find some great places to dine, unique shops, and fun things to do.

Dine Around Sandpoint

How about you dust off the powder and lose the skis so you can head to downtown Sandpoint to see what delectable delights await you. For the craft beer fans, a must stop would be to MickDuff’s Brewing Company to sample freshly crafted brews paired with their menu of burgers, salads, and other brewpub specialties.

Maybe you are in the mood for something a bit more upscale with a view of Lake Pend OreilleTrinity at City Beach is the perfect starting point for your day and makes a great final destination for the evening. With an extensive menu, an impressive wine list and amazing views of the lake and surrounding mountains, Trinity is ready to become your new favorite restaurant.

Another option if you are looking to heat things up after being out in the snow would be Jalapenos. They feature Mexican cuisine in a casual environment that fits with Sandpoint’s small town vibe. The owners have been serving residents and visitors for 20 years.

Non-Skiing Things to Do

Since you have now satisfied your appetite why not check to see what event may be taking place at the Panida Theater. As the area’s only performing art facility, the Panida has over 144 performances scheduled annually. Concerts, Ballets, Film Screenings, Symphony performances, and more!

Not a beer drinker and not in the mood for any shows, then how about a bit of wine tasting? Pend d’Oreille Winery’s tasting room and lifestyle gift shop are something to see when visiting Sandpoint.  They are open daily for tasting and tours.

Where to Stay Besides Schweitzer Mountain Resort

Now you could stay at Schweitzer Mountain Resort or one of the Lodges at the mountain, but why not stay in town. There are not only hotels you can choose from there are vacation rental properties.

The Best Western Edgewater Resort in Sandpoint, Idaho is located on Lake Pend Oreille with City Beach right outside their door. Downtown Sandpoint, with all its restaurants art galleries and shopping, is a short walk from the hotel. Plus Trinity at the City Beach mentioned earlier is in this hotel.

Planning on staying for a weekend or longer a vacation rental might be what you are looking for instead of a hotel. There are several to choose from like condos on the lake or entire houses.

Doesn’t really matter where you stay, where you eat, or what you do as long as you remember Sandpoint is more than just a Ski Resort.
