The City of Coeur d’Alene’s Art Commission in conjunction with the Pedestrian and Bicycle Advisory Committee put together some maps that guide you to places to enjoy local art while on your bicycle (or walking). Here is information on the bicycle route:

The Bike Tour is over 12 easily scenic miles, with views of Lake Coeur d’Alene and the Spokane River. With stops in:

  • McEuen Park
  • City Park
  • Riverstone Park
  • Phippeny Park
  • Historical Forest Cemetery

Park your car at McEuen, it is free if you park at City Hall lower parking. From the parking lot take a right at 8th, wander east through Sanders Beach area with a short stop at Rotary Park near the Historic St Thomas Cemetery. From there you will head west with a stop at Phippeny Park. The tour meanders through charming turn-of-the-century residential neighborhoods then onto Midtown at 4th St where you will find the next art pieces serving double duty as bike racks. Then it is onto historical Forest Cemetery, then across the street to Riverview Cemetery. From there, you will head southwest through the Education Corridor winding around 2 roundabouts with art on display. At the end of  River Ave, journey to the Centennial Bike Trail along the picturesque Spokane River, north to Riverstone Park. The tour loops around the Riverstone area full of shopping and restaurants, then back onto Centennial trail (south) along the Spokane River. You will head back to downtown Coeur d’Alene along Rosenberry Dr, wandering through City Park before ending at McEuen Park.

Here is a PDF version of the map you can download. I plan on physically riding this route so I can create a sharable map you can use on your mobile device. Subscribe to this blog or our social media accounts to know when that becomes available.
