Coming up this weekend is one of the event weekends here in Coeur d’Alene that our family usual tries to make it to. This weekend, similar to last year, will be a HOT one!  We are going to try and make it downtown to enjoy the weekend and thought we would share some stay cool tips that we will be using that you can try too!

1. Eat small meals and eat more often and avoid foods that are high in protein. Well this shouldn’t be a problem as there will be plenty of food choices in the city park for the Taste of the Coeur d’Alene that I am sure will be great for carbo loading.

2. Run your wrists under cold water  for five seconds each every couple of hours. With lake Coeur d’Alene being within walking distance of all three events it will be easy to dip in a wrist or two or maybe even an entire body!

3. Sit back, close your eyes and picture snow. Research has shown that the body reacts to these daydreams, reducing its overall temperature. Since this weekend signals the beginning of the end of summer here in the Inland Northwest imagining what we will be experiencing once this heat is gone will remind us that it is not so bad.

4. Whatever you’re doing outdoors, having a plan will help cut down on unnecessary activity in the heat. Here is “The Morgan Stay Cool Plan”: Start at the beginning of the Street Fair at the east end of Sherman Ave., then take a dip in the lake, stroll through the Taste of the Coeur d’Alene for a snack or three, now for another dip in the lake, take in Art on the Green at the North Idaho College Campus while visualizing the snow to come, followed by a dip in the lake, another stroll through the Taste of the Coeur d’Alene, and finishing with a dip in the  lake. Fun filled day for the whole family and everyone stays cool!

Now that you have a “plan” below is some more information about the events happening this weekend.
